Firewall Configuration

A software firewall is an application installed on the computer or provided by the Operating System that actively blocks communication between the computer and the internet. Pando Media Booster uses standard ports for communication that are open by default with the majority of firewalls in order to allow users to browse the web. However you may need to add the Pando Media Booster application (PMB.exe) to an "allowed application" list if you are experiencing connectivity issues.

• Modifying your firewall settings may reduce the security of the computer it affects.
• If your firewall is not listed, you will need to contact the manufacturer for assistance with configuring it.
• Important notes: Please be aware that many popular firewalls will become very restrictive to traffic when 'disabled' or turned ‘off’, including shutting down all traffic on some ports. Please be sure any firewalls you have installed are enabled and configured correctly in order to use the downloader effectively.
• Please note that actual hardware firewalls exist as well- physical devices that serve the same function as a software firewall, but run independently of your computer. Most consumer-level 'hardware firewalls' are routers with built-in firewall functions. Please check your router configuration manual for further instructions on how to configure your ‘hardware firewall’.
• Enterprise-level dedicated hardware firewalls are also available and are often used on corporate or campus networks. They, however, fall outside the scope of the assistance offered by our Technical Support. If you have questions about your corporate or campus network, please contact your network administrator.
