It is important for a company to know its customers. So today, the Pando office took half an hour to play one of the MMOs that we distribute. Our goal was to remind ourselves what playing one of the great games we help distribute is like. The gaming experience that we all have varies, but we felt that through playing one of the MMOs together, we would be closing the gap between user and distributor. All right, we’ll admit it, we also felt kind of envious of the users. In any case, the result was certainly educational.
The game of choice was Outspark’s Fiesta , a great 3D Fantasy MMO that is fun and easy to get into. Divided into a few groups we quested a bit, dispatched of a few slimes and anthropomorphic mushrooms, and generally had a blast. We also learned a whole lot about teamwork.
The best and most anticipated moment came when everyone entered the BattleZone for a free-for-all brawl. The office was full of cries of “Sorry!” as our characters in the game killed each other. At the end of our Fiesta run, a victor emerged! Our Sales Director Jason Greenwald killed the most and died the least. Well played, Jason. Next time we won’t go easy on you.
Fiesta was a great game to play, and we grew through the experience. Sometimes we are so busy with optimizing downloads that we forget to stop and enjoy what happens after the download – the game.
